Imprint Files vs Fileflare
Fileflare has been on the Shopify App Store since 2020 and is built to deliver files of any size, with unlimited bandwidth on every plan and streaming on Premium. Imprint Files is built around PDFs. Every plan stamps the buyer’s details, and Premium traces a leaked copy back to its order.

The short answer
Choose Fileflare if:
- You sell large files, video or audio, and want unlimited bandwidth, no file size limit and streaming on your store.
- You want tighter control over who downloads: fraud-flagged order blocking, login-required downloads and IP limits.
- You want print and edit locks on stamped PDFs, a logo in the stamp, or the buyer’s address or phone number.
- You want to serve files from your own S3 or R2 storage, or manage products and orders through a REST API.
Choose Imprint Files if:
- You want PDFs stamped on the Free plan, or with your own stamp text for $8.99 a month rather than $19.
- You want a unique copy code on every download, so a code found on a leaked copy leads to that exact download.
- You want hidden marks that carry the copy code even if the visible stamp is cropped or edited out.
- You want to upload a leaked copy, look for its order and draft a takedown notice.

The main differences
What Fileflare does that Imprint Files doesn’t
Fileflare has no bandwidth limit on any plan and no file size limit, with storage from 1 GB on Free to 1 TB on Premium. On Premium it streams video and audio on your store, shows PDFs in the browser, can hide the download button entirely, and schedules releases for pre-orders. It can block downloads on orders Shopify flags as fraud, make customers log in before they download, and cap how many IP addresses can use a link. It also connects to your own S3 or R2 storage and has a REST API. Imprint Files delivers video and audio as download links. If those features matter most, Fileflare is the better fit today.
PDF stamping: what goes on the page, and which plan you need
Both apps stamp the buyer’s details onto your PDFs as they download. Fileflare starts stamping on Basic ($19 a month) with one stamp template, and Growth ($29) allows as many as you like. Its stamp can show the buyer’s name, email, address and phone, the order number, date and IP address, and line item properties from checkout, plus a logo. You choose the page range, position, rotation and styling, and can lock printing and editing. Those locks depend on the reader honoring them. Stamping works on PDFs under 100 MB that Fileflare hosts.
Imprint Files stamps on every plan, starting with the buyer’s email on Free. From Basic ($8.99 a month), the stamp can also carry the name, company, order number and ID, up to 5 custom fields from checkout or a product form, and a unique copy code. You can stamp every page or just the first. Imprint Files doesn’t add print or edit locks or image stamps. See PDF stamping and visible vs invisible watermarks.
Tracing a leaked copy
Fileflare logs the IP address and browser of every download on Basic and up. Its docs suggest watching for one order downloaded from very different places, then blocking it. For a copy found online, they suggest reading the visible stamp to identify the buyer. If the stamp has been cropped or edited out, that copy has nothing left to read. We didn’t find a way to upload a leaked file and match it to an order.
On Imprint Files Basic, every download gets its own copy code, logged with its time, country and device. Premium hides that code inside every page with tracing marks and an optional QR code. Upload a copy you find online to look for a matching order and download, then draft a DMCA or EU Digital Services Act notice. A match identifies a copy or order, not who shared it, and tracing depends on which marks survive. Learn more about leak tracing.
